First Medal of Honor awarded In Vietnam

Colonel (then Captain) Roger Hugh Charles Donlon IN 3-59 received the Medal of Honor for actions on 6 July 1964 near while commanding Special Forces Detachment A-726 at Camp Nam Dong, Vietnam. This was both the first Medal of Honor awarded for service in Vietnam and the first award to a Special Forces officer. He was inducted into the OCS Hall of Fame in 1965
